Hold for Release – What It Means

Hold for Release is a new option you can select when placing a PO.

What It Does

  • Sends the PO to the supplier.

  • Holds off shipping until you ask for it.

When to Use It

Use Hold for Release if:

  • You want to lock in the price now.

  • You're not ready for delivery yet.

  • The delivery date is still to be decided.



Step 1: Start Your Order

Create your purchase order as usual.



Step 2: Select "Hold for Release"

  • Scroll to the Delivery Details section.

  • Choose the Hold for Release option.

  • This tells the supplier to hold the order. It won’t be shipped until you say so.



 

Step 3: Submit the PO

  • Review your PO and submit it to the supplier.

  • The PO will indicate that the order is on hold.




Step 4: Release the Order When Ready

  • Use the “Release” option when you are ready to have your items delivered.

You can:

  • Release the full order, or

  • Release in increments (e.g. only what’s needed now)
